In January 2015 we objected against the application made on behalf of Curro Schools to allow secondary access to their school they are developing onto Rietfontein Road with primary access via the current entrance in Homestead Road:
The section which affected us can be downloaded here:

However, in a small victory for the community this email from Curro’s townplanners:
“Curro has not applied for a second access on Rietfontein Road, the will utilise the existing access to the complex. Once final planning approval is received the building will be refurbished with a view of opening at the start of 2017.”
Without this sounding like an Oscar Award winning speech there are some people who need to be thanked for their involvement in doing their bit for the community:
- Sara Currie-Millar, who although moved from the area many years ago, took our written objections and lodged them with Joburg Metro.
- Joanne Mayes and Carol Cardwell who assisted with the printing and collection of the forms
- Diane F, Charlene McQ, Dave P, Edward B, Stanislav and others who offered up their time.
- Nick Wolpe of The Liliesleaf Trust whose direct intervention with Curro Management assisted our cause.
